Episode 106: 52 minutes running time
Hello from Oxfordshire! This week’s podcast brings excellent music from four bands and toe-curlingly awful singing from its two presenters. No, really!
Talkie bits:
- Bren spent all day standing on a tall hill on a common in Hampshire eyeing up horses
- Soph’s just glad the week is over!
- American rapper Snoop Dogg has won a two-year legal battle to be allowed in to the UK. Is he mad? To be allowed *in*?
- Bren has a rant about Americans claiming to be Irish
- Bren has a rant about Glastonbury music festival
- Soph asks if Bren’s standing on a soapbox
- Allegedly, Bren swore at Soph at 4.15am (I can’t believe it, myself)
- Allegedly, Soph discovered Bren sitting downstairs singing aloud at 3am – and the fruits of this singing are shared with you in this show!
- We’d like to thank a couple of people for saying nice things about the podcast, on another website. So… thanks!
- We’ve had a lovely email from The Deputy Minister of Public Works in South Africa who is offering us 20% of 3,500,000 USD just because we’re excellent. And all we have to do is give her our bank account details…
- Pink Floyd won their court case against EMI. Question: Are EMI on drugs?
- We big up Ade at TunaTheDay.com for putting on a gig at The Living Room in Oxford in aid of Twestival. More details here
- The American organisation PETA? They’re total nutters, right?
- How Bren was right – the SciFi film The Island seems to have stolen borrowed heavily from the 1970s SciFi film Logan’s Run
You want more? Really?
How about the musical goodness that this week includes:
- Dala, Red is the Rose (http://myspace.com/dalagirls)
- War Tapes, Dreaming of You (http://www.myspace.com/wartapes)
- inLight, Give Me A Try (http://www.myspace.com/inlightband)
- karaoke hell from Soph and Bren
- The Parlotones, Perfect Place (http://www.myspace.com/theparlotones)

When Bren mentioned about horse appreciation, I immediately thought of Prefab Sprout – Wild Horses.

War tapes, or is it War Tapes? Or WarTapes? They are so excellent. The beginning sounded not what the track ended up sounding like. But they are fantastic Bren.
